Plan Management

Plan Managers claim funds from the NDIA and pay providers on your behalf. Part of our role is to ensure the amounts that providers are charging you are within the limits in accordance with the NDIS Price Guide, and that invoices are not fraudulent.

Plan Managers must be NDIS registered and qualified bookkeepers or accountants. They are required to provide monthly statements to every participant. With Plan Management, you can receive services from both NDIS registered and non-registered providers, as opposed to NDIA-Managed funds, which can only be used on NDIS registered providers.

NDIA (Agency) Management

When a plan is NDIA-Managed, registered providers electronically claim funds directly from the NDIS, and you can log in to the NDIS Portal to track spending and monitor your remaining funds.

This is the default method of managing funds for new plans. In order to change this, you must elect to be self-managed, or apply for Plan Management funding if you do not wish to be NDIA Managed.

  • The service is a default offering for all NDIS participants


You can elect to manage all aspects of your own funding. You'll receive invoices from your chosen providers yourself, then claim the funds from the NDIA and pay your providers. With this option, you'll need to track spending, ensure you're being charged the right amount and liaise with providers and the NDIA yourself, leaving you more at risk of spending funds too quickly.

With this option, you can choose to use both NDIS registered and non-registered providers, and can pay over the NDIS set prices.

  • You can elect to pay more than the NDIS price limits


You can use a combination of the above three fund management methods depending on your needs and capacity to do so.

For example, you may have a Plan Manager to look after your Core Supports and Capacity Building funding, but may manage your capital funds yourself or through the NDIA.

This option might be good for ad hoc services or purchases, and for when a provider is charging over the NDIS price limits (and cannot be paid for through Plan or NDIA Management).

Frequently asked questions

Can I be Plan/Agency/self-managed at the same time?

Yes, some NDIS Participants prefer a mixture of the different ways of managing their NDIS Plan. For example, a participant may want to have a Plan Manager look after most of their funding, but may want to use the services of a non-NDIS registered provider who charges above the amounts laid out by the NDIS. The participant can claim funds and pay this provider themselves.

Do I have to pay for Plan Management?

No, Plan Management services are completely funded by the NDIS for almost all Participants who ask for it. If approved, the service will be paid for by a separate budget in the NDIS Plan specifically for Plan Management.

Can I get Plan Management if I have a Support Coordinator?

Almost all NDIS Participants who request Plan Management will receive a budget for the support. Whether or not the participant has a Support Coordinator will not affect their Plan Management budget.
